Maria was one of those natural beauties that you stumble upon and wish you could put her in a box and keep for a rainy day. But like several of the models in this project, I didn’t know her beforehand and never met her again afterwards. I told her it was a “loitering in an alleyway” shoot and to dress accordingly. So the style was completely her own.
She fit perfectly into the graffiti-rich surrounds as she looks very much a piece of urban art herself. From her clothes to her hair and to the brazen look on her face that screamed “touch me and I’ll break your fingers” … she was every bit the urban fantasy and suitably faded off into the early morning mist when the shoot was done.
