Smiles are very few and far between in my shoots. I don’t shoot children and rarely shoot beach or family so they always seem out of place to me in what I do shoot. But give me a completely spontaneous and natural smile and I automatically smile back. Such is this selected shot from my one hour with Sam.
She had replied to my project ad and having met for coffee and agreed the plan of attack, we convened in a sleepy neighborhood just outside of Tampa. Or should I say, we thought it was sleepy. Every couple of minutes we had people passing by, cyclists in no hurry, police cruising slowly by and in this case a man walking his dog right behind me. So, the smile occurred just as she was about to close her legs and obscure heaven from public viewing. Damn dog! But what a lovely smile.
